Philippa Gregory. Almost any fan of Historical fiction is familiar with her name. Most famous among teens for the film based off of her novel of the same title The Other Boleyn Girl that stared Natalie Portman.
After seeing the movie Other Boleyn Girl, I was very interested in Philippa Gregory's writing. While the Other Boleyn Girl wasn't my kinda book I found Changeling to be more up my alley.
However much I did enjoy this it did little to thrill me.
The stand feature of the book for me was the way it dealt with the religion. Religion is always a tough subject to tackle due to its highly personal nature. Which is why it is important to note that I am not a religion person however I did really enjoy the story. I found it very interesting and was handled very well. I think that anyone of any religion would find the book interesting and insightful.
Another part of the book that I did enjoy was the historical aspects of the book. While I can not vouch for how actuate it is to history.
There was only two stand out issues for me in the book. One was the love story. While I'm pleased with the way it was handled through out the book at points I found my eyes rolling skyward.
By the love story aside I was pretty pleased with the characters. I understand that this is the first book in a series so I will go easier on the characters than I would if this was a stand alone.
Over all an enjoyable read if you can look past it's blemishes. Fans of historical fiction however will not be let down.

Book: Into The Still Blue
As many of you know I did not like this series when I started it. But I found myself over the moon with happiness when I got a E-Galley of the book. And while this book has it's many ups and downs -which I will get into in a moment- I have to say that this was the strongest book in the series all around. The story did nothing of what I thought it was going to do and it was over all very well planned and played out.
I loved how much the characters have changed and grown from start of the series. And how natural all the changes really feel. It's not forced or quick. it comes as it should. I loved watching how things slowly changed between the characters. And the little bits of deep insight that I found with in their thoughts and feelings.
Also something that must be noted as a high light of the book was the use and attention payed to deal. Something that so many writers either over do and make their plans way too clear to the reader or something that is under done, leaving you going " huh?".
The only thing I had a hard time with was how rough the book was to read at times. For many reasons which I will not go into for fear of giving even the smallest of spoilers.
This book really was an epic ending to the series and on that I feel every author should look at for how you wrap up a series. Tight strong and fat free!
Over all it was a wonderful read that had me dreading putting the book down.

Book: Eleanor And Park
There are some books that everyone you know is reading and in love with. Eleanor and Park is one of those books. You can't go on Tumblr without seeing a quote or fan art from/do to with this book.
This was one book I had no choice but to read.
And after reading it I see now why everyone is so in love with it. It is the kind of book that steals our hearts and makes us stop.
In this book I found so many much needed lessons. and saw things in life more clearly.
Trying to find a place to start when talking about how good this book is...is almost impossible.
Eleanor. Lets start off with her. I think the best way for me to put it was that she was thing that made this book. The reason I say that is without her none of the wonderful things would have come into play.
Now I will not go in to to much detail in because it might spoil the book. But I feel like Eleanor's story had so many things to teach us. The first being never judge a book by its cover. Or in this case a person by their clothes.
The next it told us was that everyone is fighting their own battle so don't be so fast to jump on them. You never truly know what is going on. And it reminded us just how many teens boys and girls have hard family lives. It's something that we hear about all the time but very few of us ever do anything about.
The last thing I love about Eleanor is that she is not a girl who thinks she isn't beautiful but really she is. She is beautiful in the natural everyday way. She is beautiful with her imperfections. And I love that. When the rest of the world is telling girls to be little sticks here is a girl who falls madly in love and is beautiful just not in the way that girls online or in adds are.
Alright that went on a little long but there is so much to still I want to say on Eleanor.
Anyway on to Park. I love him because compared to Eleanor he lives life pretty normal but there are still some small things in his life that pop up.
What I love most about Park was here was a guy in YA that was real. He felt human. He thought at many points like a teenage guy does. And I loved it!
Another thing I loved about this book was the love story. How it was not a right away thing. How it was slow and awkward and natural. How it was open and fragile at times.
This is a book that I feel everyone should read because it is breathe taking and beautiful. Please take the time to read it.

Book: Rock And A Hard Place
Clearly I had no idea what I was getting into when I started this book. Like I did not know that the name of the book would have more meaning to the story than just of that of an everyday metaphor.
At many times through out reading this book I really did come to love Libby (even if she was a little freaky at points). She had been through a lot of a lot and is going through a lot in the book. But at times I did find that her story was so much like the other sad young adult romance books. But at the time when that was not bothering me. And yes, how crazy and silly she was at times did force me to take breaks from reading the book. But on the whole I liked Lily and her story.
As for Peter he was pretty good. Did it sometimes get on my nerves? Yes, but when taking this book for what it is there are many things about it that are good. First of all it's fun. And after your done reading it you feel good about life. You feel hopeful. Which is something that I don't feel a lot of times with poplar young adult books.
Over all not a lot to be said about this book other than I think fans of this book will like and happily ignore it's flaws.

Book: The Boy On The Bridge
This book got my interest because of the cold war russia setting. And I'm happy to say that as far as the setting went it was a very good book. I have never been to russia and was not around during the cold war but I felt that the book gave me a very realistic and truthful point of view on the time. I was shocked at how though the book was in third person it felt like it was in first person which was really nice. Laura I felt could have been more interesting she was a lacking that something that makes her stand out from the other characters in the book and in YA over all. At times the things she did were very.... for lack of a better word stupid. I felt like she could have been a little smarter at times. And it bothered me that when she was weighing why she loved Alyosha the only things that she could think of was how he looked. That really bothered me and made it hard for me to like Laura or the love story. As for the love story of the book I had a love/hate thing going with it. It did but it didn't work for me. At some points it felt a little weird and it didn't make sense always.
But I did love reading about the differences about between the americans and the russians. But most of all seeing were there were little to no differences. But I did like the ending and how things were left.
Over all it was really good. I think it is one that many of my readers will like more than me. Natalie Standiford's makes the ups and downs of the book feel so heartfelt and real that at times I had to to put the book down and breath for a moment. Despite the fact that there are many pros and cons to the book.

Book: Under The Never Sky
I have heard many really good things about this book. Things like finally a girl in YA who can hold her own. A love story that did not over power the story.
These to things I am happy to say are very true. Aria was a strong main character that also had a soft side. She was a very well thought out character with many layers. Her character development was very well done and one of the best that I have seen from a YA author in a long time.
I also liked how it was not love at first sight. The love story and friendships took a lot of time. They came from two different worlds and they did not like one other at first. But they slowly had to learn to be open to the other one and their different ways of life. And the love story for one had a more natural feel to it. Things went a little fast at the end, but worked with story I felt.
So as far as the characters go the book was really really well done.
As for the story I was much more mixed and let down over all. The idea and the setting were good. As for the way things played out and how much gore there was I was not happy. Yes, I did say gore. I got every tired of the killing and fighting. The savage ways that many of the characters had or gain through out the course of the book. I would have liked it toned down or not as harsh. At times many of the savage actions over powered the characters and at times even seemed a little out of character.
Over all I felt that the book is strong read as far as characters go. As for some of the actions or choices the characters make, I did't like them. But I feel that fans of Graceling and Breathe will love this Dystopian novel.
Also I am looking forward to reading the next book in the series.

Book: Forevermore
will start off by saying that the storyline of the book seemed right up my alley from the get-go. A girl in scotland with a ghost. Sounds like my kinda read.
And as I started to read the book my first thoughts on it proved to be even more true than I thought they would be. I took this book for what it is. And that it a fun ghost love story for the younger YA readers and taking it as that it's a very good book. I like Ivy and felt that though she was a lot like the other main characters I see in YA it worked. And the same thing goes for the other characters in the book. They are not that different. But they made the story fun and gave it a light feel. I really liked how Ivy did not make a big deal about her stepdad or the family. She just took it as it is and tried to think about more useful things.IT did seem a little odd how she was never really scared of anything . Maybe it was the writer trying not to creep the reader out I don't know. But I think it would have been more realistic if she had been just a little more scared and freaked out by the whole thing.
Also I would have liked to feel a little more of her passion for music. But after reading Revolution ( a must read) it will always be hard for me to find a book that has music in it that I feel is truly has passion.
What was different about this book and really made it worth the read for me was the setting. The creep castle and it being in Scotland was the biggest seller for me. I would have liked the book a little better to tell the truth if I got to read more about the castle and scotland. It was nice to see Ivy learning about it and trying to fit in.
The only real down side to the book was that the ending. I would have liked that to have been rewritten to seem a little more realistic. But over all I found this to be pretty good. I would say that this is a read that some of the younger YA fans.

Book: Forever
As many of you know I have read and hated these books. A lot really. So why did I read this? Because the book still had a lot of hope. There are many little and very small good points about this book that stand out and that I kept hoping to see more of. Sadly all I got was more of the bad. The setting and the town of Mercy Falls is wonderful but in none of the book was it every showcased at nicely as it should have been. And the love story was always so sad and never seemed to go anywhere. Even in this last book I found myself wondering where the hell it was all going - if it was going anywhere. All of these books seem to be made up of nothing ever going right and everything wrong. To a point you have to give the reader a little hope. Its not that much to ask for. Harry Potter and a tons of other great books have done it all along its part of writing a good book is to have something that makes it worth reading.Did I find this book worth reading? Yes, because I like to read a really bad book every once in a while just to remind me that they are out there and can be very poplar. And I also wanted to try to be fair. I know I said that with Linger and i'm saying it again I want to be a fair blogger whenever I can help it.
Pretty much standing with this book is the same as the other two in the series. Good setting. Sad love story. Everything goes wrong. And its also a very long book. I still like all the different characters and their side of the story.
On the bright side the story finally seemed to go somewhere. Even if I was not to happy with that somewhere.
Over all after reading all three of books I can safely say that my thoughts have not changed and I think that most readers will have better luck with other YA books. I do still have some hope for Ms.Stiefvater as a writer and will at some point give her other books a try.

Movie: Mini review: The Decoy Bride
I saw this on netflix and on a whim thought I would watch it. How bad could it be? well truth be told not bad at all! Its one of the best chick-flicks I have seen in a long time. The story is fun and goes places I did not think it would( while still staying true to the chick-flick). I really loved the cast. They made the film I have to say. For those of you who do not know who Kelly Macdonald is that she is the voice of Princess Merida in Brave. So listening to her talk is a joy ( until you try to talk like her). And add to it she is very very funny. Really the whole movie is funny. I laughed and laughed. and when it was over I wanted to watch it again. Which never happens with me and chick-flicks. To like this movie you have to take it for what it is. No this movie will not change your life or make you rethink the worlds problems. But it is a funny sweet movie that will be great for any movie night or sleep over. Plus the jokes that you will be quoting are never ending. So the next time you see this on netflix or that the dvd store its total worth the buy.

Book: Sweetest Dark
I read this book a while back and never posted a review. But with the next book coming out soon I thought that a late review is better than no review.
This book was both wonderful and a little bit of a let down at the same time for me. First off there are many things about it that are wonderful and it made me think the Gemma Doyle series. Which is one of my favorite series of books ( though I have not read the last one). This was a lot like those books both in writing and time. But I feel that this might have had less action than those books. Some how Libba turns every little thing in to a huge deal.
First off I love the time in which this is set mostly because of Downton Abbey. But something that I love is how they deal with the how hard life was back then. And in a lot of ways I felt like the book should have been a little longer. I liked the book and I was never bored reading it but the story did not really seem to go anywhere very fast. and even looking back on it there was no huge change in the book. Yet , none of it bothered me which normally it does. I think it was because of the honesty of the characters. Which I loved them all by the way and would have liked to learn more about any and all of them. I loved the story and its twist and turns.
For me the only down side of this book was that the love story was to rushed. it was to fast. And I would have really love to see them fall in love slowly over time because I think that the character had so much to give us the reader.

Book: The Selection ( #1)
I have wanted to read this book since it came out. But I first of all never found the time until now and was worried that it would not be as good as everyone said it would be. it all seemed to good to be true. But it was wonderful. It had everything I could have wanted from it. The pacing of the book was right on not to fast and not to slow. We learned about the lifestyle and world that this is set in at a good pace. Learning only what we needed to when we needed to. It felt like we were really in America's head. It was natural. America was the kinda girl that YA should be full of. She was strong but she had her soft caring side. She thought things through or acted normal. I also loved how the book did not get caught up in things that were not needed. Like lots of fights between the girls to keep people reading. When I read the reviews for this I became very fearful that this book would be like City of Bones or Clockwork Angel and that it would be full of nasty twists and tricks. But it was not the book did not try to trick you in to wanting to read more in a lot of ways it made me think of Entwined ( which I loved).I also really liked the love story in this ( team Maxon).I found it refreshing. It felt very really. The whole book really was what I think good YA books should be. It was the right mix of everything. I would highly recommend this book. And can not wait to read the next one which I hope will hold up to this one.

Book:Jenna and Jonah's Fauxmance
This book is okay. But nothing more. Jenna and Jonah did not seem to real. They fell a little flat for me. In a book like this they are very thing. Yes there were good parts and parts of the book that I liked but I felt that they changed so fast at the end of the book it was hard to believe. But as a fun light book it was nice to read. Some fans of Secrets Of My Hollywood Life and The Daughters I think will like this. Not all fans of just a small group. This book unlike My Hollywood and Daughters did not tell you any big secret. The only thing was it showed you what it was like to fake dating in hollywood. And in a lot of ways it did not feel very real. The other two books gave you a feeling like you were in hollywood seeing something that the rest of the work does not. In the case of the Daughters it made you see fame a different way.But here are somethings other things I liked and did not like about the book. I did not like how the they ran off to his house so much. I liked the play thing. Did not love or really like the love story. it was okay but not great. I would have liked to seen more from them. There was a lot that could have been done with the book to make it better. Over all okay not great. But its a fun read that I'm sure tweens and young teens will love.

Book: Beautiful Creatures
(I read this book back in the fall but do to trouble with the blog have been unable to post it till now. I now post it as it was written).I have heard so many good things about this book for so long and was very happy to finally read it. I had a feeling it would be a lame romance like twilight but darker. almost needless to say I was shocked to find that it was written from Ethan's point of view. something that I my self liked greatly. I love to get it from a guys point of view. And they did a very good job of making it seem like it was a guy telling the story. I found that I really liked Ethan and the way he handles different things in the book. It is nice to read about a strong guy who is also ... human. I liked how he was not some special witch or vampire. Just a normal guy like us. Who can't wait to leave his small town. well until Lena comes a long. And I have to say that I really liked Lena. She was in my eyes a good mix of strong, hero but with a soft side. I mean she is almost 16 I don't care who you are but if you were going through what she is you would want someone to lean on.The ideas in the book might not have been so new but the way that the story is told it has a very fresh new feel to it. Also liked the mix of witches and I guess kinda a witch doctor feel that the book had going for it.
There are many things in here that make me think of twilight but I have to say that I liked this one better in a lot of ways because it reminded me of Beastly. I really have to say that really liked many point in the book. It had a good mix of story,Humor and romance.
And I think the nice thing about it that even though it is romance if the movie is a big hit guys could always read it too.I found this to be a very enjoyable read and can not wait to see the movie and read the rest of the books.

Book:Underworld ( Abandon #2)
Its sad how long it has taken me to read this book. I am a huge (- ok maybe just a big fan since it took me so long to read it ) of Meg Cabot ( just look at the Airhead review).
I loved the first book in the Abandon series and was hoping that yet again Meg would out do her self. Which she did. This book was different from her other books because the short took place in so little time. It was only a few days. Which blows me away. I think that a lot of writers have a very hard time with writing stories that take place in a few days. I mean harry potter happened over one year.Yet Meg does a great job of keeping it moving without rushing it.
But Meg also keeps things just like always funny and light. Its something that makes picking up her books a lot like running in to an old friend sure its different and it takes a little time to fall back in to the swing of things but the fun and laugher is there right from the get go. I really love Meg's timing she knows just when to do all the right things. And things that would normally bother me with most YA books. I think that it is a true sign of what a great writer she is. I don't think that have read a really bad Meg Cabot book - or one I that I did not like. Which for me is very hard to do. I have to say if you want to read this book go for it. It is well worth it.
Though yes, Meg might not be the worlds greatest writer as far as YA goes she is one of the top out there.

Book: The Lucky Ones ( BYT #3)
After waiting a very long time to read this book I got my hands on it and could not have had higher hopes for it.
And in a lot of ways the book met these hopes. It was bright. It was full of the parties and fighting that you feel in love with in the other books. and it was full of drama. But not all the drama was good. Some of it had me asking my self why she would write that. And a lot of the drama had to do with the young pilot. Yes, I found some faults with that story line. I felt that in some ways it brushed over a lot of the problems that racist caused in the 1920s. It made it seem at times like a white rich girl who went to lots of parties could date who ever she wanted too with out people turning on her at all. Which I think if we look at history we know very well that is not true. Also the whole gang thing got very old very fast for me. and I saw how that storyline was going to play out very early on. Which was a little sad because normally Ms.Godbersen's storylines take the most out there turns. And I was let down by many of the twist in this book.
On the other hand though I did love the Letty story. It was just what I thought Ms.Godbersen would do. and I liked it very much. And it had the whole 1920s feel the first two books were full of.
Over all I have to say that I was left with a glass half full over all though I think many might see the glass as half empty. And I can not wait to read what Ms.Godbersen writes next.

Movie: Waiting For Forever
I found this movie on netflix and it looked really good. I thought it would be a cute, fresh new indie love story. but I was wrong. this movie is okay. its not really that good. its an indie that looks like a so so lifetime movie. I'm not hating on it is okay but its never ever going to get out in theaters and it seems like thats what they where trying to do. there are two very bad things going for this movie. 1) the screenplay- it needs a lot of work. the idea is good. the rest is not. with a screenplay in that shape you really need a director who loves the film with a burning passion and actors who can act which brings me to problem 2) The Acting - When they cast Will they went for heartthrob not someone who can act. when playing a guy like Will it has to be a part of you. it seems like the blocking was forest. and when it can to the rest of the acting they should have looked for a guy who could play him like Ryan Gosling did Lars and The Real Girl ( if you have not seen that movie it is a most. it shows you what indie movies really are all about. ) sweet, fun, and crazy. but it is part of them not a show. the guy who played will it felt like he was trying to hard and not acting. I'm not trying to be mean Im just saying that its the truth. oh and Im adding a another one 3) The Fake - this movie is nothing but fake. I like it- well kinda but its fake the acting, the story the other the top trying to be something you have never seen. its fake. there are some scene where you watch it and thats all you get out of it.And as far as Emma went I feel she tried but I would have liked to have seen someone a little softer playing her. I know she was going though a ruff time but she did not come off as nice at all. So she really was not likable. and a lot of scenes that show us how she feels where missed because of it. nothing happened. the only scene that really was pretty good was the one at the park.
and the whole ex-boyfriend thing was pretty dumb. I would have liked for it to come out and then we have to wait and hope that everything works out okay when Will finds out. but they tried to go all chris nolan on it and did not work. this should have in that area stayed with the tried and true.
and really its a film about a guy who stalks a girl. this is not okay no matter how cute you make the guy. its scary and no girl should like a guy like that. its just creepy okay.
but with that being said there were a lot of other good things about the movie. like the editing and the end was pretty. and they did a great job of getting the children actors and the grown up actors to look and act a lot a like. which is something a lot of movies get wrong. But it could have been better had those things been changes.

Book:The Duff
I have wanted to read this book for a while and when i heard they where making it in to a tv show I just had to read the book.I thought the book was good but I thought it would talk a little bit more about what it was like to be a duff. but the whole thing was about a guy and like a love story thing. So other then that it was pretty good.
I liked it. but the hard thing was at points it felt like everything I have read before. I think that it will make a great TV show and that people will like watching it and reading the book.
really there is not much I can review of it because there was not much to the book. now that is not a bad thing it just is the way the book was. a light break from the rest of the world and that is nice for a book. but it makes for a bad review sadly.
so if you like books all about sex and teen age matters of the heart. I liked the end of it very much. but would have like to see a little more of it.

Book:Fatefull
So I have not read any other books by this writer. I got the book only because I liked the cover.I always find it fun to read books about the Titanic. mostly because there is no way you can top the movie. you just can. and the only way you could do it is if you remake it 100 years from now. you just can't. but I thought I would read this anyway to see if it was a ripe off of the movie or not.
and I did like it because it had some downton Abbey parts to it. I found it to be a wast of time. it had me thinking why as I read most of it. and I think it is so silly how much of it was like a trashy rom-novel. but I read it mostly because I wanted to know if the end was like that of the movie.and it had to have parts of the movie. the sad heart break of what happened. My thing is if we can all get so heart broken over something that happened a 100 years why can we get that way about things that happened today. like the war or all the other stuff going on. all of these things pulled young lovers together and apart.

Book: Entwined
I have wanted to read this book because I love the cover and I saw the book at the library and I had to get it because on the back The writer of East praised the book. and I loved East so much that I just had to take the book. I did not read the inside cover so when i read it and it started to sound like the 12 dancing princess ( which is one of my most loved childhood fairy tale) I fell head over heels for the book. One thing I love about books like this one is that is it gives the people in it that little push it tells us about them. it gave the girls a hobby and we see how that changed who they were and what they did with their time. I loved the people in the book to. and so much of the book made me think of the book East. In a good way. I also loved the hole thing with the king. But I found that the keeper and the end was all but to easy to see coming from the start. it was good and all but if you are going to change the story and what happens then you might want to add a good twist to. I like how all of the girls had flower names. and I like how they all where so one of a kind. what I did not like was how unclear the ages where and all of that. I thought a lot of the girl where the wrong ages and got a little lost. I think it would have been nice to say which girl would come out in what year or found some way to tell you how old they where a little faster. but other then that I liked the book. I liked why they had to go dancing. I did get a little mad at them for the way they where so dumb about things here and there.Sometimes I ask my self is it so hard to write someone who is smart and who some what really knows whats going on. and its like with the keeper there are so many little things that could have been done to better play out what happened. but again other then that I liked this book. I felt it was a great YA story of the 12 dancing princess. A must read book if you liked East or the 12 dancing princess.

Book:Fire
So as many of you know, I read Graceling. and well I did like it. but I had a hard time with some of the thing in the book and well just look at the review your self. So I had started Fire a while back and never got to finsh it because I had to many other books I had to read first. And I still have to many books I am want to read and no time to read them all. but I thought to my self I will go ahead and read fire because I will kick my self some day if I don't even if the book is bad or good. So I started fire again. and again I got in to it. I like it. but some times I feel that Fire can't make up her mind. sometimes she feels good about who she is and other times she hates it. and normally I like that but in this book they have the big "ah" and then she goes right back to where she was before. and that is not really how it should go in my book.anand ask the book jumps a lot in timing and though. one mine sec one thing is going happen then the next something that makes no since what happens. And for some reason Ms.Cashore loves to hurt everyone in the book in the weirdest ways. Like in this she does all this stuff to fire and others that is just wrong and has no point other then making you want to kill your self. I know everyone loves Fire. but all the people that do are not teens and feel that this is the real world. being a teen is hard with out books like this to nock you down. Also there is this hole lame twist at the end that is BS. and there is this hole thing with Fire and kids that is just point less. Cashore has all the great bones of a story but she can't ever get the skin or the hair right.so the book ends up all wrong. But this one ended a little better then Graceling at the lest. but again not very good. If this was a movie it would work better. but as it is a book it just does not work as great. I know many of you are going to say you love this book. and Yes there is something so lovable about this book. In the middle of the book you find your self in love. then after that the book starts to go down hill again. and they add in all of theses things that we just don't need to know and that does not need to happen. it is messed up in the way that after reading this and Graceling I am starting to get the feeling that the story is all write in the feel of the sec* style.
It is a hard book to review because of that.
so do not feel bad when I say that I have an over feeling of dislike to the way things play out. I think that Cashore could pull things together a little more she could one of the greatest YA ever.
over good book but needs work.

* feel of the sec style is a style of writing where you write only what you feel at the time, and none of it have you thought about doing before.
