Book: Fangirl

As some of you may remember I read the book Eleanor & Park and feel head over heels in love with it! So when I found out that Rainbow Rowell had another book out, I did everything in my power to get my hands on it right away. First off this book is very different from Eleanor & Park.  THis book over all is a much happier kinda of love story. And having read ( and even thought about writing ) fanfiction I loved what a big part that played in this story. Though I would like to make it clear that I was not big in the fanfic world I just kinda pasted through it when I found a link on tumblr.  Reading this book shone some new light on it for me. I have always been on the fence about fanfic. Part of me thinking that it's fun to dream and share all the things you would have done differently - because that is how I got into writing in the first place. While the part of me is always thinking how I'm not sure if I would like someone to fanfic about my own stories. That I would not want them touching my characters. My characters who to me are family. But reading this book I saw a whole different side to fanfic. And I'm really grateful for that.
Now the whole book was not about fanfic that was just a part of it. The book was about so many other things. Like growing up. Like family and what that truly means and the time old battle of knowing when to forgive someone, and knowing when you have been hurt to many times.
It also dealt with the hard battle of going forward. Facing the future and all of the changes it holds. Of letting go not just of bad of the past but also letting go of good. Knowing when you those memories as joyful as they are, are holding you back.
THis book also has a super sweet love story that I felt I could totally relate too.
Which brings me to Cather. I really feel in love with her because I felt that in so many ways she was like me. Something I'm sure all the readers of fangirl will feel at some point or another.
I think that the most powerful I could say about this book was that I did not want it to end. I turned the last page and kept looking for the next one.  I did not want it to end.
Though very different from Eleanor & Park this book yet again shows us all how truly wonderful Rainbow Rowell is as a storyteller. I can't wait to read whatever she is cooking up next for us.

Book: Percy Jackson and the Olympian: the Titans curse ( #3)

First off this book has the same pros as the first two; fast paced almost from the beginning, has good humor, good character development and is another fun but short look at what Greek mythology would look like in the modern world. though some things are different it is set in the winter not summer, and is darker than the first two, but keeps it's good sense of humor. This book does what the second did take away a main character and put in a new one or in this case three. The new characters are good some more the others. At first I was upset about this but it adds good variety to the book. Though I will say Grover does not get as much character development as Annabeth got in the last book and he seems only there to be comic relief. Also the ending to this book is far better then the last two overall. This is definitely the best in a series that keeps getting better and better.

Movie: Mini review: The Decoy Bride

I saw this on netflix and on a whim thought I would watch it. How bad could it be? well truth be told not  bad at all! Its one of the best chick-flicks I have seen in a long time. The story is fun and goes places I did not think it would( while still staying true to the chick-flick). I really loved the cast. They made the film I have to say. For those of you who do not know who Kelly Macdonald is that she is the voice of  Princess Merida in Brave. So listening to her talk is a joy ( until you try to talk like her).  And add to it she is very very funny. Really the whole movie is funny. I laughed and laughed. and when it was over I wanted to watch it again. Which never happens with me and chick-flicks.  To like this movie you have to take it for what it is. No this movie will not change your life or make you rethink the worlds problems. But it is a funny sweet movie that will be great for any movie night or sleep over. Plus the jokes that you will be quoting are never ending. So the next time you see this on netflix or that the dvd store its total worth the buy.

Books: My Most Excellent Year

This book would not have been my first  pick. But the Mary Popins thing  got me. First off the book is good. It is not great it is just your bite of life book. Sweet, insightful  and all.  Just life. Nothing out of this world. No Magic. No space ships. Nothing that does not happen.Nothing that could never happen to the rest of us. I did not like every thing in the book. But I did in no way hate it.
The writing was odd.And I could not see it being written any other way. odd or not it worked. I also like all the odd movie stuff. It add to the books realness in a lot of ways.I also liked the way the you could just see the plays in your head. And feel what it was like to be up there with them. So that was very fun for me to read about. I think it was fun to have all the baseball stuff. even if I did not know what I was reading.I know nothing about baseball.
And the best part of the book was by far the end.I love the end of this book.I love it! In a lot of ways it made the book well worth reading. it was the kind of ending that almost made you forget everything that you did not like. So  over all this book really rocked once you read the end.
! I think that a lot of you will like it ( and a lot of you will not like it so much those of you who do not like these real kind of books). Its a sweet story of high school. and how we do not know it but we can change lives in so many great ways. I think that any young teenager who wants to see life the way other people live it  will love this book. Really a good book when you take the time for it.and take it for what it is.

Book:Spies and Prejudice

As you can guess from the title this is not the work like that of Jane Austin's.Really it reminds me more of Alley Carter's books to be honest.and as you all know I love my Alley Carter books. To me this had a lot of that same spirt to it. Its fun, light, a little unbelievable and a nice to start the summer off with. A good book to read when you need a little break from all the heavy stuff out there. And I have to say who does not like a book about a girl who is payed to spy on people. And i really like the humor in this. Mary Chris Moss. It might take a minute to get it. But its very funny. The book is very funny.
So Berry might be a little hard to get used to I found my self really liking her the more I read. And though the book has a little bit of a rough start its gets much better and really comes in to its own the more you read. I found my self getting really in to it. It made me think of some of the crime shows on TV like castle or NCIS a little bit. And as a big fan of those kind of shows reading a book that felt similar was fun.
Something that I found very interesting is that this along with a lot of other books movies and TV shows seem to be on this story kick about the main character solving their parents death. And I was kinda shocked by it in this book. I really did like the book and the story but for me that whole storyline  is getting pretty old pretty quick. And one tiny silly thing (that I just have to point out is) the  problem with is the whole homeschooling thing. Unless you live under a rock most homeschool kids do just fine when they go to school. Being homeschooled does not mean that you are a friendless idiot like so many people believe.I understand it in this book but really writers you ned wise up.
And then somewhere after that the book went a little over the top making it a little hard to believe. Its more of a humor book than a spy book to be honest. But I liked it. A lot. Its a fun read. If you are looking for a real your not going to find it here. This is just a nice fun read. And in a lot of ways that is really refreshing. THis book did not try to be something it was not.
And Some times with reading all of these books its nice just to read something light and fun and get a good kick out of it. which is what this was. And taking it for what it was it was good and I think that people who are a fan of spy humor will really like this. And fine as refreshing as I did.

Book: The Boy Book

This is the next book in the ruby oliver series. and I have to say I was very happy when i saw that the library had this book, I thought it would be great to read and that it would be something that I would like. after the end of the last book I found my self wanting to see what happened next. Im not a fan of series because they get long and boring. but with these I found my self thinking that ruby is not like every other girl she is going to get her self in to much more fights and she is always going to be giving play -by-her-play updates that is just who she is.
so with that being said. I liked this book it was a lot like the first which I do not normally like but for once I really liked this one. and found my self laughing just as much as the first one.
Ruby is the same silly girl but I feel at points you can see how she has grown up a bit since the last book. which is good work on the authors part might I say. it is not easy to really do that and she did a good job of it.but one thing about these books is that they do not play out like all other books or movies. the guy does not get the girl. they do not kiss and make up. they friends aren't really good friends and have one anthers back. and the parents are never ever help full. never.
and in a way that is how some people find the books realistic. is because it plays out more like real life then some ones story. and to a point I like that. but I can not read her books back to back because of it.She is an author that writes her books so much like life that when you need a break her books are not the ones to go to. They are great books though done get me wrong. Just very life like.
Over i liked this book and look forward to reading more of her books soon.

Book:The Boyfriend List

I have heard many good things about this book and have read other books by the author and liked them a lot. so I thought it would be great to finely read this.
this was a very fun book. I liked the humor. and I loved the way it was written. I found my self seeing eye to eye with Ruby. I liked a lot of what she had to say. and I felt that she was just as lost in the middle of life as most teen girls are when it comes to boys and friends. and I love the way she goes around in circles, thats how a teenage mind works.  But as always with this writer. I found my self wishing that the girls in the story would not let people walk all over them. I wish they would stand up for them selfs and not let people be mean and push them around. and as always I did not like the ending. but hey maybe it was just me.but Im happy to know with this one that there was a follow up book. and I can't wait to read it.
I think I might just have fallen in love with roo.

Movie:The Fifth Element

I have heard  this movie is good. both from my family and from the book Classy.  I am not sure how I  ended up watching this movie but I did.  and I love this movie. that is all I can say. I love it. it rocks. it is funny but it has a good story. almost everything is done right. the only 3 things that are not is 1: the sets look like star wars way to much.  2: I hate what LeeLoo wears it is not cool at all. 3: the poster ( as seen here) sucks. it really does I would not have gone to see this movie with this poster. it  looks like crap.
but with that a side these movie is one you have to see if you have not seen it. it is to good to miss out on. it is one of those movies that you have to watch other wises you can not say you have seen Si-fi or a good movie. so what this movie it is good. take it from me. and if not from me then from Classy. and if not from him then from the si-fi world.  and if not from them then oh well you get the point. you should see this movie.

( PG-13- for sex, killing, blood, creepy images, being Si-Fi  and so on)

Movie: The Tourist

Every one said this movie was a wast. So I did not think it would be very good.  so yeah it would not the best of movies. but it is fun. I like it, a lot. and I love Johnny Depp. for an old guy he is really hot. like really.  and as far as Angelina Jolie goes I like her but her make-up  was way  heavy. She had so much on. and as for the story? well it was not great but I like it. I really like this movie. it is fun. and movies like books sometimes you need something lighter.  and come on this movie was just fun.  I liked it. and come on the end was fun. this movie is one that families will watch for fun for years to come.  so over all I like this film. a really good Rom- Com

Movie:Killers

Well I really wanted to see this movie. I thought it was just my movie. well I was wrong. the name says it all. they where killers. And they did kill and they showed it. I liked the movie. But  I do not think that they need to show us the bodies and the blood.  I like the story. It was every funny. great movie to watch if you like Rom-Coms and movies about... well killlers. But the ending is not what you think it will be.just thought you should know before you see it.  I liked the cast. over all is pretty good. but  it is the name. it is like that movie Fool's Gold .

Book: The Life & Opinions Of Amy Finawitz

This book is not a great work. But it is a great fun read. it was like talking to a best friend for me. Amy is a fun girl. a Diva. but fun. and her plays are just great! I really liked this book. it is not like every Teen ( or YA) book out there. I like all the plays.  i think that they are a really funny. they made the book for me. the story was not that great. again just life. but Amy makes they book. I think that she is a  bit of an idiot my self. But once you get over that the book is pretty good. I like the book. but I thought Anna's Secret was OK. not as cool as I thought it was.  but over all the book was pretty good. not great. but it was really funny. I liked  Amy and how she changed for the start to the end.

Movie:Fool's Gold

well just like ever one I saw the TV adds for the movie and never wanted to see it.  I though it would just be some silly movie. like a really bad chick movie as some call it.but then one night I watched it. and I really liked it. funny. a little silly. but over all a really good movie.  it had love for the girls and it had  big bad with guns for the boys. it is a great date night movie or a good girls night movie. it is nothing life changing but it is a good because you smile when you watch it.
