Book: Etiquette & Espionage

This is a book that has long been on my To Read list. So when I saw it at the library I knew I had to grab it. As soon as I opened the book I was drawn in by it. The steampunk setting, humor, and of course the vastly interesting Sophronia made the book a delightful read.
Was there flaws with it? Yes, of course. However I felt that the level of enjoyment I got out of the book was so high that I hardly saw them.
The first flaw was of course the writing. It was very standard ( other than the humor and character crafting of course).  At other points in the story things as far as the setting didn't add up or make sense. While some of the steampunk elements felt a little off.  It felt like the author was having a hard time getting the image she saw in her minds eye on paper. It always felt like at the least one or two key details were missing. Maybe it was that she forget to fill the reader in on details that had already been stated in her other series ( which I have not had the pleasure of reading yet).  But as far as the rest of the writing I found it clever, charming and as stated before a joy to read.
As for everything else I was very pleased with it all. The book was full of sass and spunk.
The thing I loved most about the book was how creative the book was. Things like the vampire and werewolf details were fun and refreshing.
The characters were a very nice mix and blend. Sophronia was great hero. She had so many things going for her, and she never once let me down in the book.
The thing that younger readers will like best about this book is of course the pace of the book. I found that it moved quickly and before I knew what happened it was over.
Over all I think that is a charming book that I would highly recommend for many of the younger readers or readers that want a nice change of pace.

Book: Forever

As many of you know I have read and hated these books. A lot really. So why did  I read this? Because the book still had a lot of hope. There are many little and very small good points about this book that stand out and that I kept hoping to see more of. Sadly all I got was more of the bad. The setting and the town of Mercy Falls is wonderful but in none of the book was it every showcased at nicely as it should have been. And the love story was always so sad and never seemed to go anywhere. Even in this last book I found myself wondering where the hell it was all going - if it was going anywhere.  All of these books seem to be made up of nothing ever going right and everything wrong. To a point you have to give the reader a little hope. Its not that much to ask for. Harry Potter and a tons of other great books have done it all along its part of writing a good book is to have something that makes it worth reading.
Did I find this book worth reading? Yes, because I like to read a really bad book every once in a while just to remind me that they are out there and can be very poplar. And I also wanted to try to be fair.  I know I said that with Linger and i'm saying it again I want to be a fair blogger whenever I can help it.
Pretty much standing with this book is the same as the other two in the series. Good setting. Sad love story. Everything goes wrong. And its also a very long book. I still like all the different characters and their side of the story.
On the bright side the story finally seemed to go somewhere. Even if I was not to happy with that somewhere.
Over all after reading all three of books I can safely say that my thoughts have not changed and I think that most readers will have better luck with other YA books. I do still have some hope for Ms.Stiefvater  as a writer and will at some point give her other books a try.

Book:Fatefull

So I have not read any other books by this writer. I got the book only because I liked the cover.
I always find it fun to read books about the Titanic. mostly because there is no way you can top the movie. you just can. and the only way you could do it is if you remake it 100 years from now. you just can't. but I thought I would read this anyway to see if it was a ripe off of the movie or not.
and I did like it because it had some downton Abbey parts to it. I found it to be a wast of time.  it had me thinking why as I read most of it. and I think it is so silly how much of it was like a trashy rom-novel. but I read it mostly because I wanted to know if the end was like that of the movie.and it had to have parts of the movie. the sad heart break of what happened. My thing is if we can all get so heart broken over something that happened a 100 years why can we get that way about things that happened today. like the war or all the other stuff going on. all of these things pulled young lovers together and apart.
had I seen this cover I would never have read the book
but back to the book. It is paranormal. and it sucks. yes the love in it is great but it is so stupid that I could not find my self liking it. I am not a love sick teenage girl and so I feel that this book should only be read by that or people trying to regain their youth. there is no story to this other then two people fall in love on the titanic. the only good thing about the book was that is was small so I did not have to wast to much time reading it.  there are lots of good books to read out there. So don't pick this one.  I  could sit here and write to you about how bad it is but that would be a wast of my time. I have not read her other books but I would like to just to see if they are as bad as this.

Book:Paranormalcy

I have heard really good things about this book when it first  came out. I  did not have time to read it at the time. But I was so happy to  read this book.  I have to say I was very happy when the book started, and it was funny.  I like how the  book was more of a joke of all the paranormal books coming out. I liked how Evie was a girlie-girl its so hard to find a lead female in any books theses days. girls have to be tom boys-whichs is fine but it has gotten over the top.
I also like the way that this book did not try to be something it was not. it was what it was. that was all.
I like lend but I thought that he was just to fake.  I felt at times that  evie was a little weird. and how she felt about lend was odd. but other then that the book was good. I think that it is a nice break from all of the other paranormal books out there of right now.
and sadly there is not much else to say about the book it was cute nice, funny, odd. it is not great novel but it is good.

Book:wolfsbane

I  read the first one Nightshade. and needless to say I did not like it ( read review for full thoughts). so when I saw this book at the library I knew I had to read if only to trash it in the review. I start this one trying to be open minded. and I have to say that I liked this one more. I could feel that Calla loved Shay but still had feelings for Ren. which is how it always goes in love I think. you still love your old boyfriend even if you love your new boyfriend . in the first one I did not see the love. I did not see one little bit of love anywhere. but this one I could see it.this one unlike the first on was a fast read.it just whent by with out knowing it I had read over  200 pages.
but that does not mean I liked it. it was still pretty trash and I found my self sighing a lot at the book. I thought it moved a little to fast at some parts and to slow at others. which was not very nice. I like my books to be same in pase untill the end. which is where I like it to get much faster.
what I did not like was the writing or the end. they both seemed like half baked and we all hate half baked cookies. or at lest I do. but any way. the end was BS. big time. and I think that Mrs.Cremer was not happy with her own style and so she tried to write like some one else. and the truth is most great writers is that they know they're style and they stay with it no matter what other people think.
over all better then the first but still really bad.
( YA-13. mostly killing and they make it sound like to people have sex. well really the tell you they do. but they don't go to far with it)

Book: City Of Bones

So as you know I read the book Clock Work Angel and well I loved. and I feel the same about this one.
on one page I love it the next I hate it. as you can see it is not an easy book to read. but I have to keep reading.  this book is like secret life to me.  I hate it because I love it. I do not like all the killing and the way that the book always keep trying to get you ip set about everything.but I do like the love stories in these books. how they feel the same way I do about this book, you love them for a while, you hate them the next ( or pages in my case). but in anyway case I found my self liking the book. mostly because I was starting to like Jace.Ms.Clare is very good at making the people very real and making them likable. they are the reason you keep reading even after you get made as the story gets worse.  and I found my self wishing more and more that he and Clary would hook up. so need else to say I did not like the end every much. I am hoping that clare will make up for the bad end in the next book. but the one nice thing about the end is how she did it. she showed us one thing and we all saw it coming but there was so much more going on that I did not see coming at all. so with that being said I find my self were I was with her other book ( clock work angel see above). I will read the next book soon. but it will take some time to get over this one. I can not wait to see the movie.
over all this book is some people's cup  and others will hate it, and others will be like me and do both.
as far as what books it is like I don't know. it is one of those books you have to try and see how you like it.
but one thing some one said is that "this book is like a bad harry potter.  it shows us what trash J.K. could have written. only thing is she would not have gotten away with it like Clare did."

Book: Night Shade

This is another one of those books that looks great gets, great views, sells great but is pretty bad from page one.It was other try-to-hard opening. and needless ro say the book did not get any better.Werewolfs. A girl in love with two guys. Sound like every other book you have read lately. Yeah, I thought so. one thing that I hated and did not get was the hole "I am a girl so he can but can't touch me". I do not get what the wrtiter is trying to do. is she saying " girls live the princess life" or " girls see how wrong don't let a man ruler your world!" if it is 2 then good try. but girls think the wrong thing. they think it is 1 not 2.I think this book is wrong for the way that it did this. we are trying to show girls they do not need a man they just need them selfs. they do not have to "give" them selfs to man or men. it is WRONG! girls do not need men to get jobs or live a great life!!!
and as for every thing else in the book. it was just off! all off.
and the end of the book was just a big let down. I was hoping up till the last page that something good would happen but it only got worst! I did not even think it could but it did!so over all I think that if you like books about back world werewolfs this is the book for you. they put down women and say it is all right to let a man push you around. AND IT IS NOT OKAY!! EVER!!! WOMEN CAN AND SHOULD STAND UP WHEN ALL MEN LIKE THE MEN IN THIS WANT IS SEX!!!!!!!! so if  think that it is okay just because he is your boss then this book is great. if you see eye to eye with me that it is not okay to do what they are doing in this book then do not read it!

(YA-15 and up. I think it is more 13 and up but I feel 15 that way younger teens  don't get the idea that it is okay to do things like in the book)

Book: Clockwork Angel

This book opened with a poor try at pulling you in. I do not see why the book opened like that. It just showing weakness by using death. and other nasty ticks. I mean yes it made for a good pull. but I feel like it was cheap move on the writers part she could have pulled us in with other doing what she did. it was poorly done. Her writing is good and Tessa was just fine you do not need to do all of all the... well the nasty stuff for us to like it and want to read it. I had opened the book with an open mind and after that I have a feeling this was just other trash of a 'new york times best' really I think it was just a selling tick. and really that does upset me. I know that her other books which I have not read are very well known and loved but I just feel that if all her books are going to be like this I will have a very hard time reading them.   because the frist page is the page that tells you the most about the book. and at times it  this page was trying to be the next Twilight meets harry potter. It was trying to hard. never a good sign. because you want a book to be fresh so much so that when you pick it up its like taking a shower after a long run. It wakes you up fills you with wonder and you have a hard time leaving. You find your thoughts randomly going there and thinking about it. the one thing that really did stand out for me  Tessa and Jem.There is something so real about them that pulls you in. and no matter what happens Will is always there to lighten the mood and make sure you never stay down. But all the fighting and the demon stuff did get old and when ever some one dies it feels to plained to pushed. never really like death. It makes it hard for you to like someone or a book when you feel like they are playing tricks on you all the time and they want you to get made and upset this book could have been great but it is not just because of that.]. but sadly this book made me feel like it was  trash because it at many times.  I can not believe that in all of the reviews I have read no one even said a word about how bad the book was. No were near as good as every one said it would be. its good but not that good mind you. I only hope that her other books where better and that the next one is a big step up.

Book: Linger(The Wolves of Mercy Falls, #2)

Why did I read this book?  Because I do try to be as fair as I can. I know writing a book is very hard and a big undertaking and at times when I have looked back on my review of Shiver I have asked myself if I was being fair. So in the name of trying to be fair and do right by the blog I read this book. Which was pretty long so I had best be getting some points for being fair.
My thoughts one it?  They are a lot like my thoughts on book 1 ( Shiver).  When I read this book I do not feel the love between Sam and Grace. It is not real love to me. I found myself feeling hopeless and like love was out of reach and never going to happen. And that no matter what you do life is going to kick you down so you might as well stay down. At points I found myself thinking that maybe Romeo and Juliet had the right idea in the end. Because if I was Sam or Grace I would have started to feel that way. If you wanted me to tell you a book with a fairy tale paranormal love story that was good I would give Beastly  a try. This book was in someways better than  Shiver. Not much better  . But that does not make this book or Shiver a good book. The new character I felt help add to the story that like I said was all over the place in the first one. And at least the setting of Mercy Falls was still there and that helped me feel better about the time I spent on this book. And one more thing I would like to say before I rap it up is :I do not like how Grace was with her her Mom and Dad. it was like the Writer was saying " teens if you think you are in love, but your mom and dad don't then do not  do what they say". And that is not what we should be telling Teens. I'm sorry but at some point these YA writers have to take a good look at the real world when writing these books.
Was it a wast of time? No, it was not a waste of time for ME.  I got to blog about it and I can say that I have  read it. I was fair and I gave it a chance.! but do I think you should read it?  I would lean with no.  Over all I would say its a pass for me.

Book:Shiver(The Wolves of Mercy Falls, #1)

Well the best way to start off the review is by saying that this is one of the biggest let downs I have ever read. A lot of people I know like it.And so many people told me that is would be a better read than Twilight. After reading this I want to read twilight again. And I don't even like twilight ( yes I went through my sad six months of liking it before I finally read something really good). I did not like how Sam and Grace are never really are happy. It seemed like the whole book was just them sitting around waiting for the next worse thing to happen. Which is sad because the book did have some good little points. Like I liked the setting of Mercy Falls. And at first I did like Sam and Grace and they why I got both sides of the story but the more I read the less I cared for that fact. And I'm sorry but I think that there was a lot when it came to wolf way of life that could have been left out and something truly worth reading put in its place. But  NO WAY! And at times I was not sure what story I was even reading. Which was a pain. So I would sit there and be like " yeah its a werewolf love story...and ummm yeah its cold. Which is why its called shiver" In some ways being in love is ever thing. But not the love in this book. I sat there thinking to myself that a love story about two teens dying of cancer would be more hopeful and worth reading than this.  And I might have learned something useful from that book. This on the other hand could have been great and would have been much better if it had not been written by a love sick stay at home mom. I have a stay at home but at least she is not out there trying to sell to young teenagers. I will try to read the next book in hopes that maybe it will pick up on the few good points that were hinted at in this book.

Book&Movie: twilight

Twilight. ever one is talking about it. I whatch the movie then readed the book. the movie was not so good. Bella was so bad. she was not funny or sweet. she was mean and did not seem loving. she looked right but did not play Bella right. all and all bad casting. the book was ok.I did not loved it. breaking dawn is not a very good book. I say if you are going to read oone of bad books read twilight and new moon but do not read breaking dawn. I hope new moon is a better movie then Twilight was. but that is just a wish for twilight makes wrting look easy. well it is not. twilight is no harry potter or mysterious benetict society. it is sad that teens ever where are in love with trash. the book are trash. they are not good. they tell you to go and find love. it is not about who they are friends and how it is like to be friend with people like rose or whatever. it is like gossip girl. a poor book and even poor movie. I hope that a good book will come along to save us all from twilight.
